AFFORDABLE LEGAL SERVICES

The Tender Lawyer believes in fair and reasonable pricing, using a combination of hourly rates, fixed and capped fees. Capped fees protect you from the upside (i.e. unexpected blow outs in legal fees). And unlike fixed fees, they also give you leverage on the downside while still providing a degree of certainty.

The Tender Lawyer does NOT charge:

  • Anyone’s time other than the Tender Lawyer’s (i.e. you won’t pay for support staff);
  • Miscellaneous “disbursements, petties & sundries” (i.e. you won’t be paying for printing, photocopying, faxing, internet or other telecommunications costs, filing). The only time you pay for something other than professional fees is to reimburse the Tender Lawyer for money actually outlaid on your behalf (which is very rare);
  • For every phone call or email – if you have a query or need a quick, brief word of advice, you can call or email the Tender Lawyer at any time and, so long as you have an existing relationship with the Tender Lawyer, you won’t be charged;
  • In 6-minute units. If you are paying an hourly rate, you will pay no more than the actual total amount of time spent. In other words, if a matter involves 20 emails at different times, each taking 1 minute to read or write, you will pay for nor more than 20 minutes time. In most law firms you would pay for 2 hours of time (20 x 6-minute units);
  • In advance of services being provided (you only ever pay in arrears);
  • Like a wounded bull – the fee charged will often be less than the advertised hourly rate and will always be fair and reasonable.
